The Studio of Visual Creation

Obama vs. McCain, the K.O.

Hi, welcome to my blog. I am a professional freelance artist from northwest Ohio. I have been doing artwork for nearly 40 years now.

My influences come from my Mother and Grandmother. My mother Majored in art at the Ohio Northern University and taught education. My grandmother owned and operated a ceramic shop where she taught and did wonderful works with clay. Though I must say that I learn a little something from every artist I come in contact with so for that reason I am truly blessed.

My Bio

I started doing art work at a very young age. As I said before that I was influenced by my mother and grandmother, but they also encouraged me to do artwork as well. When I was about five years old my mother introduced me to oil paints. At first I did what I call play paint. For an example, I would paint soldiers on both ends of the canvas and then proceed to paint them in battle. One by one they would shoot and one by one they would fall until there was just one victorious hero of the battle.

When I was seventeen and a junior in high school I had problems with my art teacher. She would have us draw with crayons and do cut out collages. I thought this was nothing more than kids play. Later that year my art teacher entered one of my drawing into a state art competition and I won first place. By the end of the year though she got so frustrated by me doing my own thing that she eventually failed me in art. My mother was enraged by this and entered me into some college courses over the summer to make up the credit. My instructors had a very different view about my art work and couldn't believe I had gotten a failing grade.

The next step of my life is very hard for me to talk about but it is very important for you to understand why I sometimes paint the way I do. I suffer from what is know as bipolar mania. My life is filled with extreme mood swings and personality disorders. There is alot of people in this world who see me as someone who does not think normally or see the world like a normal person. For many years I was forced to live my life beleiving that I had to be contoled by others because I couldn't live a normal life on my own. During all of this my mother always said that they were wrong about me and that I could do it. They were wrong because since then I did break away and got married and had three children and have been living a "normal" life. I t
